Imagine you’re in Paris, enjoying the gorgeous scenery and taking in all the sights when you suddenly have the desire for some chocolate. Of course, you’re in Paris, the city of romance, and chocolate just happens to pair well with romance. You wish you could look up a chocolatier in the city. Yet, this is your first time in Paris, so you have no idea where to look for such a place.
Fear not, traveling chocolate lover. There’s an app for that. The San Francisco Chronicle recently released an article highlighting a nifty application you can download on your android, iPhone or iPad. Upon downloading, the app will track your location via gps and locate the nearest (within 25 mile radius) chocolate shops in your area. You may also relish in the fact that there is an interface, where users can rate and review over 2,200 chocolate shops featured around the world. The app is called chocomap.
The origins of this app trace back to Ecole Chocolat. This culinary chocolatier school is based online. Lead instructor, Pam Williams started the school, because she had people all over the world contacting her seeking training to professionally make chocolate.
Whether you’re a professional chocolatier or simply a consumer with a craving for chocolate, anyone can benefit using this app. Users can take pictures of those delectable raspberry truffles or almond toffee that had their mouth watering at the shop and upload them to the app. Chocomap will then place users’ uploaded pictures next to the corresponding shop, giving other users of the app a more visual review. If you’re not the most technologically savvy person in the world, chocomap also features step-by-step directions for using the app.
